MILAN, Feb 28 — AC Milan’s chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League suffered another setback with a 2-1 loss to Bologna, leaving them eight points behind Serie A’s top four.

The rescheduled match at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, originally postponed due to severe flooding in Emilia-Romagna, saw Bologna climb to sixth place with 44 points, five behind fourth-placed Juventus.

Milan started strong, with Rafael Leao putting them ahead just before half-time. However, Santiago Castro equalized in the 48th minute, capitalizing on a Giovanni Fabbian knockdown that Milan argued involved a handball.

The decisive moment came in the 82nd minute, when Dan Ndoye tapped in the winner after Nicolo Cambiaghi spun past Alex Jimenez and delivered a precise low cross.

Despite the defeat, Leao remains optimistic, saying: “We still believe in qualification. There are many games left, and teams can drop points. Our job is to win.”
