KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 23 — Two foreign nationals have become the first individuals in Malaysia to be charged in court for littering under the newly enforced anti-littering law, according to a report by The Star.
SYDNEY, March 2 — Australian relay specialist Brianna Throssell announced her retirement from competitive swimming on Sunday, concluding a stellar career that saw her claim four Olympic medals and 18 World Championship podium finishes.
The 29-year-old, who was part of Australia’s dominant 4x200m freestyle relay team that clinched gold at the Paris Olympics last year, said she felt it was the right moment to step away from the sport.
"I just knew it was time," Throssell shared.
"The lessons I’ve learned—about perseverance, teamwork, and the pursuit of excellence—will stay with me as I move forward, but I am ready for the next chapter."
Throughout her career, Throssell amassed 39 international medals, with all four Olympic medals—two gold and two bronze—coming from relay events. At the World Championships, she secured 17 of her 18 medals in relays, with her only individual podium finish being a bronze in the 200m freestyle in Doha last year.
Several Australian swimming greats congratulated Throssell on her achievements, including Olympic 400m champion Ariarne Titmus, who was also part of the Paris 4x200m relay team.
"I am so, so proud of you, beautiful—both in and out of the pool," Titmus expressed. — AFP
