PARIS, April 17 — Crystal Palace lost 2-1 at Fiorentina but still advanced to the UEFA Conference League semi-finals 4-2 on aggregate, where they will face Shakhtar Donetsk.

Ismaila Sarr gave Palace the lead in Florence before goals from Albert Gudmundsson and Cher Ndour turned the match around for the hosts. Despite the defeat, Oliver Glasner’s side held on to their first-leg advantage to reach a historic European semi-final in their debut continental campaign.

Palace captain Dean Henderson praised the achievement, calling the progress “sensational” after last season’s FA Cup triumph.

In the other semi-final, Strasbourg staged a 4-0 comeback win over Mainz to advance 4-2 on aggregate, while Rayo Vallecano progressed after edging AEK Athens 4-3 on aggregate.
