KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 23 — Two foreign nationals have become the first individuals in Malaysia to be charged in court for littering under the newly enforced anti-littering law, according to a report by The Star.
PUTRAJAYA, March 11 — The Ministry of Education (MOE) has announced that March 18, 2026 will be an additional school holiday for all schools nationwide in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
In a statement issued yesterday, the ministry said the extra holiday aims to give teachers, students and parents sufficient time to make preparations for the festive celebration in a more organised manner.
According to the 2026 Academic Calendar, schools in Group A states — Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu — had already been allocated an additional holiday on March 19.
Meanwhile, schools in Group B states — Melaka, Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya — have been granted two additional holidays on March 19 and March 20.
The ministry added that the move reflects its continued commitment to prioritising the well-being of the education community. — Bernama
