KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 — The Education Ministry (MOE) has launched immediate reforms across all 10,243 schools in Malaysia to enhance student safety and well-being.
According to Harian Metro, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the initiative targets five main areas:
1.Physical and mental health
2.Reproductive and social health education to curb sexual violence and substance abuse.
3.Child protection policies
4.Teacher welfare
5.Student representation
“All State and District Education Offices have been mobilised to ensure practical and efficient implementation,” she told Parliament during Question Time today.
The MOE will assess progress every 15 days, with senior officials engaging educators and students to collect feedback and monitor effectiveness.
The reforms come in response to recent tragic cases, including the alleged gang rape of a student in class, underscoring the urgent need for stronger school safety, better teacher oversight, improved complaint channels, and comprehensive victim support.
