IPOH, July 6 — A 38-year-old woman suffered a leg injury after becoming trapped beneath her car when it unexpectedly rolled forward while she was opening the gate of her home in Dataran Pengkalan Barat 2, Taman Temara, yesterday.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director of operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the department received an emergency call at 3.39pm, prompting a team from the Pasir Puteh Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) to respond immediately.

The firefighters arrived at the scene four minutes later and found the victim pinned beneath a Proton Wira.

Initial investigations indicated that the woman had left the car engine running while opening the gate to her house. The vehicle then moved forward unexpectedly, causing her to fall and become trapped underneath it.

Members of the public attempted to free the victim before firefighters arrived but were unable to do so.

Rescuers carried out an initial assessment using the SAVER (Systematic Approach to Victim Entrapment Rescue) method before deploying specialised equipment, including an Air Lifting Bag and a Hydraulic Cutter, to raise the vehicle and safely extricate the woman.

She was found to have sustained injuries to her leg and was later handed over to the Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel for further treatment.

The rescue operation concluded at 4.16pm. — Bernama
