Having taken over the national team in 2012, Deschamps led France to a World Cup titlein 2018, reached the European Championship final in 2016, and won the 2021 Nations League. In 2022, he guided the team to the World Cup final once again, where they were defeated by Argentina in a thrilling penalty shootout. Deschamps, one of only three individuals to win the prestigious tournament asboth a player and a coach, emphasized the importance of knowing when to move on, stating that there is life after coaching.
