WASHINGTON, July 1 — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to visit the White House next week for talks with President Donald Trump, as the U.S. intensifies efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, a U.S. official confirmed on Monday.
PARIS, Feb 8 – Paris Saint-Germain extended their dominance in Ligue 1 with a 4-1 victory over Monaco, led by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s first goal for the club and a brace from Ousmane Dembele.
Vitinha put PSG ahead early, but Denis Zakaria quickly equalized for Monaco. Kvaratskhelia restored the lead with a brilliant finish early in the second half, marking his first goal since joining from Napoli for €70 million last month.
Dembele then stole the show, scoring twice to seal PSG’s win, taking his season tally to 16 goals. The French winger has been in outstanding form, netting eight times in his last three matches.
PSG now hold a 13-point lead at the top of the table, with Marseille in second place and Monaco trailing further behind. The Parisians remain unbeaten in domestic competition this season and now turn their focus to a Champions League knockout tie against Brest next week.
Coach Luis Enrique, who recently extended his contract until 2027, praised his team’s performance. Meanwhile, Monaco’s coach Adi Huetter acknowledged PSG as one of Europe’s top teams and a serious Champions League contender.
Monaco missed an early chance to take the lead before PSG capitalized, with Bradley Barcola and Nuno Mendes playing key roles in the attack. With this result, PSG have lost just one of their last 61 matches against French opponents since September 2023.
Brest, PSG’s next opponent, will face a tough challenge as they prepare for their Champions League clash after a 2-0 victory over Nantes. — AFP
