LOS ANGELES, March 5 — LeBron James made history yesterday as the first player in NBA history to surpass 50,000 career points, further cementing his legacy as the league’s all-time leading scorer with a milestone that may never be equaled.

The Los Angeles Lakers superstar entered the game against the New Orleans Pelicans with 49,999 combined regular-season and playoff points, following a 17-point performance in Sunday’s win over the Los Angeles Clippers.

It didn’t take long for the 40-year-old veteran to reach the historic mark. Early in the game, James received a pass from Luka Dončić and sank a smooth 25-foot three-pointer, bringing his total to 50,002 points as the Crypto.com Arena erupted in celebration.

James had previously broken Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s long-standing all-time regular-season scoring record of 38,387 points in 2023.
