MELBOURNE, March 13 — Lewis Hamilton is set to make his highly anticipated Ferrari debut at the Australian Grand Prix, aiming to challenge reigning champion Max Verstappen. The seven-time world champion, who left Mercedes after 12 years, hopes to apply lessons from Bahrain testing to his new team.

Hamilton, eager to secure his first title since 2020, has won twice at Albert Park but not since 2015. Ferrari, however, has dominated in recent years, with Carlos Sainz winning in 2024.

Verstappen, chasing a fifth consecutive title, is managing expectations, citing McLaren as early favorites based on Bahrain testing. Red Bull now pairs him with Liam Lawson after dropping Sergio Perez.

Six drivers, including Australia’s Jack Doohan and Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Hamilton’s Mercedes replacement), make their full-season debuts. McLaren’s Lando Norris, who led the team to its first title since 1998, expects tight competition this season.
