LONDON, Feb 15 — Liverpool manager Arne Slot has been charged with misconduct after confronting match officials during Wednesday’s fiery Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

Slot received a red card for approaching referee Michael Oliver in anger after Everton’s late equalizer in a 2-2 draw. Liverpool contested James Tarkowski’s stoppage-time goal, arguing that Toffees striker Beto had pushed Ibrahima Konaté in the build-up.

Slot’s assistant, Sipke Hulshoff, was also sent off in what was the last Merseyside derby at Goodison Park before Everton relocates to a new stadium.

The Football Association (FA) charged Slot with acting in an “improper manner and/or using insulting and/or abusive language” towards the officials. Liverpool and Everton were also charged over the post-match confrontation involving their players and staff.

Midfielders Curtis Jones (Liverpool) and Abdoulaye Doucouré (Everton) were both sent off after the final whistle following a heated exchange.

Slot, Hulshoff, and both clubs must respond by Wednesday, allowing Slot to remain on the bench for Liverpool’s clash with Wolves at Anfield tomorrow.

Earlier, Slot admitted he had let emotions get the better of him.
