PARIS, April 4 — Ousmane Dembele scored twice, including a brilliant opening volley, as Paris Saint-Germain defeated Toulouse 3-1 yesterday, strengthening their hold atop Ligue 1 ahead of their Champions League quarter-final clash with Liverpool.

Dembele opened the scoring with a stunning strike and doubled the lead just after the half-hour mark. Toulouse managed a brief equaliser after a goalkeeping error from Matvey Safonov, but substitute Goncalo Ramos sealed the win in injury time. The result keeps Luis Enrique’s side four points clear of second-placed Lens, who play Lille today.

“Today he showed why he is the Ballon d’Or. That is why we love Ousmane,” Enrique praised Dembele. PSG, prioritising their Champions League defence, were able to rest several players returning from international duty, including captain Marquinhos and Portuguese trio Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, and Joao Neves.

Dembele, starting only his eighth Ligue 1 game of the season, now leads PSG’s scoring charts with 14 goals in all competitions, 10 of them in the league. Ramos, who came off the bench, has 12 goals despite limited starts this season.

The victory keeps PSG on course for a fifth consecutive Ligue 1 title and reinforces their preparation for next week’s first-leg showdown with Liverpool, with the return leg at Anfield scheduled for April 14.
