LONDON – 18 - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim highlighted the achievements of the Madani Economy Framework, launched in 2023, during a lecture at the London School of Economics (LSE). He announced plans to establish Malaysia’s second chip design park, building on its role as the world’s sixth-largest semiconductor exporter and further advancing its position in the global semiconductor supply chain. The move aligns with the country’s National Semiconductor Strategy, which prioritizes investments in front-end activities to strengthen its technological edge.

Anwar also emphasized Malaysia's leadership in data centers and artificial intelligence (AI) within ASEAN and its sustainable energy transition, aiming for 70% renewable energy capacity by 2050. Stressing adaptability in a changing global landscape, he described Malaysia's decision to join BRICS as a strategic effort to diversify options in response to geopolitical shifts, reinforcing the nation’s ambition to become a vital hub for trade, investment, and technological advancement.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the government is set to launch a second chip design park to take advantage of the country’s position in the semiconductor supply chain.
