KUCHING, Nov 1 — Malaysia is considering banning online games like Roblox and UMI amid concerns over child safety and harmful content, said Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.
She said the government is monitoring Australia’s upcoming regulations on Roblox, due in December, before deciding if similar action suits Malaysia’s context.
Nancy’s remarks follow a case where a six-year-old boy was seriously injured after being attacked by his nine-year-old brother, allegedly over a gaming dispute.
She added that Malaysia will proceed cautiously and learn from other countries before making any decision. — Bernama
