LONDON- 22 NOV - Malaysian teens Evangeline Khoo, 15, and Erynn Liew, 13, made history by winning the 2024 Queen's Commonwealth Essay Competition, earning them a meeting with Queen Camilla at Buckingham Palace. Evangeline’s essay, Ungrowing Growth, and Erynn’s The Indian Ocean Queen's Troubles secured the "Senior Winner" and "Junior Winner" titles in the world’s oldest writing competition for schools, organised by the Royal Commonwealth Society.

At the ceremony, Queen Camilla praised the young writers for their powerful storytelling, which highlighted Commonwealth values and pressing global issues. The event also honoured other winners, including Victor Kiyaga from Uganda and Christabelle Yeo from Singapore, who were named junior and senior runners-up, respectively.
