LONDON - 19 JAN - Darwin Nunez came off the bench to score twice in stoppage time, handing Liverpool a dramatic 2-0 victory over Brentford on Saturday and securing their first Premier League win of 2025. Despite dominating much of the game, Liverpool struggled to break through as Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo missed key opportunities, while Ryan Gravenberch’s effort was denied by a diving save from Mark Flekken and Dominik Szoboszlai struck the crossbar.

Brentford’s determined defense seemed set to earn them a point until Nunez tapped in Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross in the 91st minute and doubled his tally two minutes later to seal the win. Liverpool remain at the top of the table with 50 points from 21 games, seven ahead of second-placed Arsenal, who play Aston Villa later. Brentford are 11th with 28 points from 22 matches.

Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez scores during Saturday’s Premier League match against Brentford at GTech Community Stadium in London.
