DUBAI, March 12 — Oman’s civil defence is working to control a fire at fuel tanks in Salalah port following a drone strike on the port’s oil storage facilities, the country’s state news agency reported today. Authorities warned that extinguishing the blaze “might take time,” without providing further details.

Earlier, Oman’s state TV confirmed that drones targeted fuel tanks at the port. An energy ministry official told the state news agency that the incident has not disrupted the supply of oil or petroleum products in the country.

British maritime security firm Ambrey reported that the port’s oil storage facilities were hit today, but no merchant vessels were damaged. Shipping giant Maersk stated that all operations at Salalah Port have been suspended until further notice.

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian told Oman’s sultan in a phone call that the Salalah port incident will be investigated, according to Iranian media. Oman’s state news agency said the sultan expressed dissatisfaction and condemned attacks on Oman, without specifically mentioning the port attack.
