SYDNEY, May 26 — A group of seven women and 12 children believed to be linked to Islamic State fighters are returning to Australia after spending years in Syria, the Australian interior minister said Tuesday.
KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 — Police detained three individuals, including two women with extensive criminal histories, after they allegedly attempted to ram officers while evading arrest at Jalan Batu 15 ¼, Dusun Tua, Hulu Langat on Saturday.
Kajang police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said officers discharged their weapons during the incident after the suspects’ actions posed a threat to their safety.
He said that at about 9.30pm, a team from the Tampin District Police Headquarters Criminal Investigation Division moved in to arrest the suspects in connection with an ongoing case.
The suspects were travelling in a vehicle fitted with fake registration plates.
“The first suspect has six criminal and three drug-related records, the second has four criminal and 11 drug-related records, while the third has six criminal and two drug-related records,” he said in a statement today.
The case is being investigated under Sections 307 and 186 of the Penal Code for attempted murder and obstructing a public servant in the execution of duties.
In a separate incident, police arrested a 15-year-old boy for allegedly injuring a security supervisor with a knife outside a mini-market at Razak City Residences, Cheras, last Friday.
Cheras police chief ACP Mohd Rosdi Daud said the 9am incident is believed to have stemmed from the victim reprimanding the teenager for littering alcohol cans in the area.
He said the suspect became aggressive and slashed the victim, causing a wound to the left side of the abdomen.
“A team from the Salak Selatan Police Station arrested the suspect at the scene at 10.45am the same day and seized a knife,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons. — Bernama
