RIYADH, Feb 26 — Cristiano Ronaldo apologized after Al-Nassr’s match against Al-Wehda was delayed due to traffic, before scoring and winning a penalty in a 2-0 Saudi Pro League victory on Tuesday.

The team bus arrived nine minutes after the scheduled kick-off, causing a one-hour delay. Ronaldo, who let teammate Sadio Mané take the penalty, played a key role in securing the win.

“It was a tough game. The first half was difficult because we spent three hours on the bus due to traffic and road closures,” Ronaldo told SSC Sports. “I apologize on behalf of Al-Nassr for the delay. This should not happen again.”

Al-Nassr, currently third with 47 points, trails leaders Al-Ittihad by eight points and second-placed Al-Hilal by four.

Ronaldo praised his team’s resilience after their recent loss to Al-Ettifaq. “This is Al-Nassr—we have to react, keep winning, and see what happens.”

With a crucial AFC Champions League Elite clash against Esteghlal Tehran on Monday, Ronaldo emphasized the need to maintain momentum.
