WASHINGTON, July 1 — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to visit the White House next week for talks with President Donald Trump, as the U.S. intensifies efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, a U.S. official confirmed on Monday.
LONDON, Feb 17 — Tottenham secured a 1-0 victory over Manchester United on Sunday, adding to the woes of United boss Ruben Amorim.
James Maddison’s early goal in the 13th minute lifted Spurs to 12th place, marking their third win over United this season. The result relieved some pressure on Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou, whose side had suffered early exits from both domestic cup competitions.
Meanwhile, United slipped to 15th in the table, though they still maintain a 12-point cushion above the relegation zone. Amorim, who has won just four of 14 Premier League games since taking charge in November, remained defiant.
"I hate losing, but I’m focused on improving the team," he said.
Spurs Fans Protest Despite Win
Despite the victory, Spurs fans continued their protests against club owners ENIC and chairman Daniel Levy. A banner reading “24 years, 16 managers, 1 trophy – Time for change” highlighted their frustrations.
Postecoglou found relief in the return of key players, including goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, and Destiny Udogie. “We’ve had a tough two-and-a-half months, but this win is an important step,” he said.
United’s Struggles Continue
United faced further setbacks with injuries to Amad Diallo, Lisandro Martinez, and Kobbie Mainoo. Amorim had to include eight teenagers on the bench, while Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee were recalled to the starting lineup.
Despite early chances for Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho, United failed to convert. Maddison capitalized on a rebound from Andre Onana’s save to score Spurs’ only goal.
United squandered further opportunities, with Garnacho missing a one-on-one chance and Zirkzee heading wide from close range. Their attacking struggles were evident, as only the bottom three teams and Everton have scored fewer than United’s 28 goals in 25 league matches.
Onana made key saves to keep United in the game, but they failed to break through Spurs’ makeshift defense, giving Postecoglou a much-needed win. — AFP
