WASHINGTON, March 14 — Former U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated his intention to annex Greenland from Denmark, citing international security concerns.

“I think it will happen,” Trump said at the White House alongside NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, suggesting Rutte could play a role in the move. He referenced growing Chinese and Russian activity in the Arctic as a key reason for U.S. interest in the resource-rich island.

Despite Greenland’s recent elections showing broad support for independence, Trump has not ruled out using force to acquire the territory. However, Rutte distanced NATO from the issue, emphasizing the need for Arctic nations  — excluding Russia—to work together under U.S. leadership to maintain regional security. — AFP
