LONDON, March 27 — Hertfordshire Constabulary has reopened its investigation into sexual abuse and rape allegations against influencer Andrew Tate, following criticism over its handling of the case.

The alleged offences were reported between 2014 and 2015 and involve three women, who said the reopening is “long overdue” after the original four-year investigation closed in 2019 without charges. The Independent Office for Police Conduct recently indicated a former detective could face gross misconduct proceedings for mishandling the case.

Tate, who denies all allegations, is also facing a High Court civil trial in June alongside a fourth woman. Court documents detail accusations including assault with a belt and threats involving a firearm.

Separately, Tate and his brother Tristan face legal proceedings in Romania and are set to be extradited to the UK over additional allegations of rape and human trafficking dating from 2012 to 2015, which they also deny. — Bernama/PA Media
