KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 23 — Two foreign nationals have become the first individuals in Malaysia to be charged in court for littering under the newly enforced anti-littering law, according to a report by The Star.
WASHINGTON, March 18 — A top US security official in President Donald Trump’s administration resigned Tuesday over the war in Iran, arguing that the country posed no immediate threat to the United States.
Joe Kent, head of the National Counterterrorism Center, is the first senior official in Trump’s team to step down over the conflict, now entering its third week.
In a letter shared on social media, Kent said he “cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran,” claiming the US acted under pressure from Israel and its lobby despite no imminent danger.
White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt dismissed parts of Kent’s letter as “false claims,” asserting that Trump had solid evidence Iran intended to strike the United States first.
Kent, long known for his “America First” stance and opposition to military interventions abroad, surprised officials with his resignation.
His departure underscores divisions within the administration over the war, sparking debate on the legitimacy and risks of US involvement.
