LONDON, Feb 23 — Arsenal's Premier League title hopes took a major hit with a shocking 1-0 defeat to West Ham, while Manchester United staged a late comeback to draw 2-2 at Everton.
With leaders Liverpool set to play Manchester City today, Arsenal had a chance to close the gap but suffered their first league loss in 16 matches. Jarrod Bowen's first-half header secured West Ham’s win, and Myles Lewis-Skelly’s second-half red card compounded Arsenal’s misery. They now sit eight points behind Liverpool, who could extend their lead to 11 points with a win.
At Goodison Park, Everton raced to a 2-0 lead through Beto and Abdoulaye Doucoure, but United fought back. Bruno Fernandes pulled one back with a free kick before Manuel Ugarte’s equaliser rescued a point. Everton thought they had a stoppage-time penalty, but VAR overturned the decision.
Elsewhere in the Premier League:
Aston Villa 2-1 Chelsea: Marco Asensio’s double, including a late winner, sunk Chelsea after a costly error from goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.
Tottenham 4-1 Ipswich: Spurs returned to winning ways with a brace from Brennan Johnson and goals from Djed Spence and Dejan Kulusevski.
Wolves 1-0 Bournemouth: Matheus Cunha’s strike gave Wolves a crucial win as Bournemouth’s Illia Zabarnyi saw red.
Crystal Palace 2-0 Fulham: Joachim Andersen’s own goal helped Palace secure victory.
Brighton 4-0 Southampton: Southampton’s relegation worries deepened with a heavy defeat as Joao Pedro, Georginio Rutter, Kaoru Mitoma, and Jack Hinshelwood found the net.
