GEORGE TOWN, July 21 — A 60-year-old man collapsed and died while hiking along the Moongate Trail at the Penang Botanical Gardens near Pulau Tikus earlier this morning.

Penang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director of operations, John Sagun Francis, identified the deceased as Lim Kee Wan.

According to him, the department received a distress call at 9.56am reporting that a man had fainted and was unresponsive.

"A team from the Bagan Jermal Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) was dispatched and arrived at the scene at 10.11am. They attempted to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but were unable to revive him," he said in a statement.

Medical personnel at the scene later confirmed the man’s death. His body was then brought down from the trail and handed over to the police for further action. — Bernama
