KOTA TINGGI, April 20 — A 71-year-old man has been remanded for seven days until April 26 in connection with a shooting incident in Taman Kota Jaya that left three people dead yesterday.
BENTONG, April 2 — A 37-year-old army corporal is in custody following the alleged assault of seven junior soldiers at the 25th Battalion Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD) camp, an attack that left one victim unconscious and fighting for his life.
Bentong district police chief Supt Zaiham Mohd Kahar confirmed that the father of one victim filed a report on Tuesday morning.
Initial inquiries suggest the incident took place around 8:00pm on Monday, during which the corporal reportedly punched and kicked the victims repeatedly. “A 24-year-old soldier lost consciousness and remains in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, Temerloh,” Zaiham stated last night, noting that the victim is currently on a ventilator.
The remaining six victims, aged 19 to 22, were transported to Bentong Hospital for medical assessments. Following the official report, police apprehended the suspect on Tuesday afternoon.
The investigation is proceeding under Section 325 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt, with the corporal remanded until April 4. Zaiham has cautioned the public against speculating on the matter to avoid compromising the investigation. — Bernama
