PAPAR, Feb 28 — Villagers in Kinarut woke up to news of a second unexploded bomb, believed to be a relic from World War II, found at a local construction site this morning. Authorities suspect the bomb is still active and dangerous.

Papar district police chief Supt Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka said the newly discovered bomb is similar in size to the first one found on February 25. After receiving a report at 7.30 am, police and the Bomb Disposal Unit (UPB) of the Sabah Contingent Police Headquarters confirmed it as an unexploded ordnance (UXO).

A district-level meeting will be held to coordinate its disposal, ensuring public safety and preventing damage to property. Kamaruddin emphasized that safety remains the top priority.

The second bomb was located just three meters from the first, prompting temporary area closures and public safety announcements. The first bomb, measuring 120 cm and weighing 250 kg, was discovered by workers on Tuesday and successfully disposed of yesterday. — Bernama
