KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 3 — The government has approved an increase in the Ploughing Incentive for Padi Farmers (IPKP) from RM100 to RM160 per hectare per season, starting this year.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM), the incentive will be rolled out in stages to ensure effective and efficient distribution to padi farmers.

The implementation involves two disbursement methods: an additional RM60 per hectare for farmers who have completed ploughing and submitted claims for the first planting season of 2025, and a full RM160 per hectare via the existing Padi Production Incentive Scheme (SIPP) for the second season, channelled through service providers or machinery owners.

KPKM said the list of eligible recipients for the RM60 top-up is being finalised, based on claims submitted by machinery owners and service providers, with payments to follow once the list is confirmed.

The ministry also announced a new Padi Harvesting Incentive of RM50 per hectare, effective this year. The payment will be made after harvesting is completed and claimed by registered combine harvester owners or service providers under the Farmers’ Organisation Authority (LPP) or Area Farmers’ Organisations (PPK), starting from the second planting season.

KPKM acknowledged existing delays in disbursing incentives and assured that efforts are ongoing to speed up payments to farmers in stages. — Bernama
