KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended his heartfelt appreciation to former Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain for his dedicated service, contributions, and leadership during his time at the helm of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

In a Facebook post today, Anwar shared that he expressed his gratitude during a farewell courtesy call from Razarudin earlier this morning.

“I pray that Tan Sri Razarudin is blessed with continued good health and strength to keep contributing to the nation in any capacity. Thank you for your meaningful service to the people and the country,” he said.

Razarudin, who began his career with PDRM in 1982, was appointed the 14th IGP on a two-year contract post-retirement, effective June 23, 2023. His tenure will officially end this Sunday.

Over the course of his career, he held various key roles, including Head of the Penang Criminal Investigation Department (2016), Deputy Commissioner of Sabah Police (2016), Deputy Chief Police Officer of Perak (2018), Chief Police Officer of Perak (2019), Director of Bukit Aman’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (2020), and Deputy Inspector-General of Police (2021).

Earlier, Bukit Aman Special Branch Director Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail was named as the 15th IGP, officially succeeding Razarudin as of today.

In a separate post, Anwar also announced that he had received a farewell courtesy visit from the Chief of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), General Tan Sri Mohd Asghar Khan Goriman Khan, who is set to retire on June 26.

“My utmost appreciation for his dedication, service, and exemplary leadership within the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM). I pray that Tan Sri Mohd Asghar Khan is blessed with good health and that the patriotism he has shown throughout his service will continue to inspire future generations to serve and defend our beloved nation,” he said.

Mohd Asghar Khan, appointed as RMAF Chief on March 7, 2022, began his military career on July 18, 1983, as a cadet officer at the Royal Military College and became an RMAF fighter pilot in 1985.

Known by his call sign “Gunjiz,” he made history as the first RMAF Chief to fly the Su-30MKM ‘Toruk Makto’ aircraft in an airshow during the recent Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2025 (LIMA ’25). — Bernama
