KUALA LUMPUR, June 23 — The Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) has suspended the operator’s licence of Star Mart Express Sdn Bhd for 30 days starting July 3, after a video showing one of its express bus drivers driving dangerously went viral on June 12.

In a statement today, APAD also announced that the permit for the bus with registration number ALA 6666 will be revoked effective August 7.

The suspension comes after an investigation revealed that Star Mart Express had breached Section 22(1)(b)(iii) of the Land Public Transport Act 2010 (Act 715), which relates to the conduct of public service vehicle drivers and conductors.

“Other offences include a violation of Section 23(1)(b), which requires licensed operators and their staff to prioritise the safety of passengers and road users,” the agency said.

“There was also a violation of Paragraph 7 of the General Conditions under the Service Level Agreement (KTP), which mandates that employees and drivers must maintain proper behaviour while on duty,” the statement added.

During the suspension period, the company is barred from operating or offering services with any vehicle under the affected licence.

APAD further noted that Section 27 of Act 715 allows for a licence to be suspended or revoked if any of its conditions are violated.

“No transactions related to the suspended licence will be processed during the suspension, which will only be lifted once APAD provides written confirmation,” it added.

The agency also warned that it will take firm action against any licence holder or company found violating transport regulations.

Members of the public are encouraged to report any misconduct or regulatory violations involving public transport operators through the Transport Ministry's complaints hotline at 1-800-88-7723 or via WhatsApp at +6019-290 7723.
