GEORGE TOWN, Aug 20 — Police have confirmed receiving a report of a car struck by an arrow along Jalan Macalister here, an incident that has since gone viral on social media.

Northeast police chief ACP Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the report was lodged by a 57-year-old male driver, with investigations verifying that the incident occurred at 3.30pm on August 13.

“While driving from Air Itam towards Jalan Pangkor via Jalan Macalister, an arrow — believed to have been fired during an archery activity — suddenly pierced the right rear door of the complainant’s car.

“The driver was unharmed, and the case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief,” he said in a statement today.

Abdul Rozak added that checks showed an archery training session organised by the Penang State Sports Council (MSN) was being held at a nearby school field. The activity was suspended on August 14 following the report.

He said the matter was also referred to the Penang MSN and the State Education Department by the school.

A 51-second video of the incident has since gone viral, showing the driver in shock after finding an arrow lodged in his car while on the road. — Bernama
