TOKYO, Jan 22 — Japan has halted the restart of the world’s largest nuclear power plant just hours after it began, though the reactor remains “stable,” the operator said.
BARCELONA, Aug 17 — Barcelona made a strong start to their LaLiga campaign yesterday with a 3-0 victory over nine-man Mallorca, as England international Marcus Rashford came off the bench to make his debut.
Raphinha opened the scoring in the seventh minute and Ferran Torres added a second in the 23rd to put the defending champions firmly in control. Mallorca’s Manu Morlanes was sent off after receiving a second yellow card in the 33rd minute, and Vedat Muriqi followed six minutes later with a straight red for a dangerous challenge on Joan Garcia.
Despite the scoreline, Barcelona coach Hansi Flick was unhappy with his side’s performance. “These are three very important points, but I didn’t like the match. The team dropped their intensity too much in the second half — that’s not acceptable,” he said.
Barcelona ignored Mallorca’s protests that play should have been stopped in the buildup to Torres’s goal, with Flick insisting his players must continue until the referee intervenes.
Rashford, on loan from Manchester United, came on in the 69th minute to become the first Englishman to play a competitive first-team match for Barcelona since Gary Lineker in 1989.
Lamine Yamal completed the win with a fine strike into the top corner four minutes into stoppage time.
Barcelona will visit Levante next Saturday, while Mallorca host Celta Vigo. — Reuters
