IPOH, July 3 — Bukit Aman’s Classified Crime Investigation Unit (USJT) has taken over the probe into the murder of a 57-year-old man who was found with stab and gunshot wounds at a house in Taman Tasek Damai on June 24.

Perak Police Chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said the case was handed over after investigations pointed to links with an organised crime syndicate.

“We’ve also enlisted the help of ASEANAPOL, Interpol, and several other agencies to support the investigation.

“At first, it appeared to be a domestic case, but further investigation uncovered cross-border elements tied to organised criminal activity,” he said during the launch of the Perak Police Blood Donation Programme held in conjunction with the 218th Police Day celebration today.

Noor Hisam added that the victim’s 31-year-old son, who was earlier detained under Section 302 of the Penal Code to assist in the investigation, has been released on police bail after his remand ended on Tuesday. — Bernama
