PUTRAJAYA, July 20 — Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar has urged civil servants not to participate in the rally planned for July 26 in Kuala Lumpur.

He stressed that it is inappropriate for government employees to be involved in such gatherings, as doing so contradicts the principle of “Loyalty to King and Country” outlined in the Rukun Negara.

“They shouldn’t go. They are civil servants — how can they take part? Every day, every week, we recite the pledge of loyalty to King and Country. Have they forgotten? Be thankful to the King and the nation,” he said.

Shamsul Azri made the remarks during a press conference after officiating the Sports Carnival of the MRSM Association of Former Students (ANSARA Malaysia) today.

Earlier, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) announced that it expects between 10,000 and 15,000 participants at the upcoming “Himpunan Turun Anwar” rally.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail also stated that the police would assist in facilitating the event in the capital, ensuring security is maintained professionally. He reminded all parties to adhere to the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012. — Bernama
