WASHINGTON, June 12 — The White House stated on Tuesday that President Donald Trump will not tolerate “mob rule,” as demonstrations against his immigration policies continue to spread across the U.S., despite a military-backed crackdown in Los Angeles.
KUANTAN, March 9 — Several government agencies at the Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) Kuantan need to enhance their services to improve counter operations and customer satisfaction, said Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.
In a 1-minute 52-second video shared on Facebook last night, Shamsul Azri detailed his unannounced visit to the Road Transport Department (JPJ), National Registration Department (JPN), and Immigration Department at UTC Kuantan.
He noted that JPJ’s counter services were particularly congested due to the high volume of road tax renewals, highlighting the need for additional seating and service counters.
In the video, he was seen personally contacting the relevant authorities, urging immediate action to enhance public service efficiency.
“Many people from Kelantan and Terengganu, especially from Kemaman, rely on UTC Kuantan for services. One key improvement would be adding more chairs, as some individuals have to stand for 45 minutes to an hour,” he stated.
He also suggested installing an additional kiosk for road tax renewals, as visitors reported waiting times of around an hour. “In just three hours, more than 300 visitors passed through, with each counter handling an average of 80 people,” he added.
The surprise visit provided firsthand insights into service inefficiencies at UTC Kuantan. However, he praised the staff for their dedication and commitment.
Following his assessment, he immediately contacted the relevant authorities, and later confirmed that corrective actions had been taken. His Facebook post garnered over 1,000 likes, with many praising his proactive approach to improving public services.
Visit to Pekan Police Headquarters and Welfare Initiatives
Shamsul Azri also made an unannounced visit to the Pekan District police headquarters, where he received a briefing from Pekan police chief, Supt Mohd Zaidi Mat Zin.
During the visit, he raised concerns about security for residents and the welfare of officers, emphasizing the urgent need to upgrade police quarters and office facilities.
“I will bring these issues to the relevant authorities to ensure security services continue to improve and maintain public trust,” he said.
Additionally, this morning, Shamsul Azri visited a roof repair project for an elderly resident and distributed essential items. The initiative is part of the Santuni Madani programme, introduced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. — Bernama
