BEIJING, June 18 — Nearly 800 Chinese citizens have been evacuated from Iran following Israel’s recent military strikes, China announced on Wednesday.

"As of now, 791 Chinese nationals have been relocated from Iran to safer locations," said foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun during a regular press briefing.

He added that over 1,000 more individuals are currently in the process of relocating or withdrawing, and noted that some Chinese citizens have also been safely evacuated from Israel.

"China extends its gratitude to the relevant countries for their full support and assistance," Guo said.

Meanwhile, Iran reported early Wednesday that it had launched hypersonic missiles at Israel in the latest round of overnight strikes between the two longtime adversaries. The escalation came just hours after U.S. President Donald Trump demanded Iran’s “unconditional surrender.”

Trump maintained that the United States had no direct involvement in Israel’s military actions, but cautioned Tehran that his patience was wearing thin as the conflict entered its sixth day.
