SEPANG, July 7 — Diplomatic delegations have started arriving in Kuala Lumpur ahead of the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM) and its related events, scheduled to take place from July 8 to 11.

Among the earliest arrivals was Laos Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Phongsavanh Sisoulath, who landed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 8.05pm on Sunday.

Other arrivals included Kyaw Nyun Oo from Myanmar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Thailand’s Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Eksiri Pintaruchi.

Senior officials from several ASEAN member states — including the Philippines, Vietnam, Brunei, and Indonesia — also arrived on Sunday.

Held under Malaysia’s 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship with the theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability,” the 58th AMM and related meetings will include 24 ministerial-level sessions, covering engagements with ASEAN Dialogue and Sectoral Dialogue Partners.

This marks Malaysia’s fifth time chairing ASEAN, having previously taken up the role in 1977, 1997, 2005, and 2015. — Bernama
