KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 23 — Two foreign nationals have become the first individuals in Malaysia to be charged in court for littering under the newly enforced anti-littering law, according to a report by The Star.
KUALA LUMPUR, June 23 — National mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei have been advised to maintain open communication with their coaches to navigate any tension that may arise during their partnership on the court.
Former national shuttler Goh Liu Ying said the world number four duo must not only communicate effectively with each other but also hold in-depth discussions with their coaches to ensure they share the same direction and objectives.
“Each player will naturally notice the other's weaknesses because both are striving to improve. There are times when one might want to adopt a particular tactic while the other prefers a different strategy. Situations like these are common in doubles. That’s why the coach’s role is crucial — they must mediate and help both players align their goals,” she said when met recently.
Back in March, the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) announced a temporary separation of Tang Jie and Ee Wei to allow the coach to test new pairings amid rising tension in their partnership.
During the split, Ee Wei partnered with Loo Bing Kun, while Tang Jie teamed up with Chan Wen Tse, with the 2025 Taiwan Open marking their first appearance with their respective new partners.
However, in April, BAM confirmed that the duo would reunite after both players requested to be paired again, following thorough discussions between them and the coaching staff.
Their first major outing after reuniting was at the 2025 Sudirman Cup in Xiamen, China, where they helped the national squad reach the quarter-finals.
Liu Ying added that such disagreements are part and parcel of every doubles pairing, drawing from her own experience with former partner Chan Peng Soon.
“We had our fair share of arguments. All pairs argue, but the intention is the same — both players want to win,” she said.
