KOTA TINGGI, April 20 — A 71-year-old man has been remanded for seven days until April 26 in connection with a shooting incident in Taman Kota Jaya that left three people dead yesterday.
KUALA LUMPUR, April 3 — Around 9.2 million electricity users in Peninsular Malaysia have saved a total of RM2.8 billion under the Energy Efficiency Incentive, introduced to ease costs amid the global energy crisis.
Energy Commission (ST) CEO Siti Safinah Salleh said households using 600 kWh or less monthly are exempt from the Automatic Fuel Adjustment (AFA), protecting them from fuel price fluctuations, while those using up to 1,000 kWh qualify for the incentive.
She noted that despite global fuel price volatility, electricity costs remain manageable through diversified energy sources and AFA adjustments, and urged consumers to use energy wisely.
Recommended measures include setting air conditioners to 24°C, using LED lights, adopting Time-of-Use tariffs, and switching off unused appliances. Households can save 5–10% monthly by optimising usage, especially during off-peak hours.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof announced stricter energy controls in government buildings. The global energy crisis continues to be driven by geopolitical tensions affecting energy markets. — Bernama
