LONDON, June 30 — Formula One will hold a Saturday race in Azerbaijan next year to avoid clashing with a national holiday, while pre-season testing will begin in January behind closed doors at Spain’s Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona.

The FIA and Formula One announced that the date for the Baku Grand Prix has been shifted at the request of the event promoter and government officials. Originally set for September 27, the race will now take place a day earlier on September 26, with all event activities adjusted accordingly.

As a result, the 2025 F1 calendar will feature two Saturday races — the Baku Grand Prix and the Las Vegas night race, which is scheduled for November 21.

Next season also marks the beginning of a new engine era with major technical overhauls, prompting teams to hit the track earlier than usual. The first of three pre-season testing sessions will run privately from January 26–30 at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya.

The second and third sessions, open to the media, are scheduled in Bahrain on February 11–13 and 18–20. The 2025 season officially kicks off in Australia on March 8. — Reuters
