TOKYO, Jan 22 — Japan has halted the restart of the world’s largest nuclear power plant just hours after it began, though the reactor remains “stable,” the operator said.
JELEBU, Aug 7 — A 36-year-old father was charged in the Magistrate’s Court today with the murder of his six-year-old son, whose body was discovered buried by the roadside at Kilometre 25 of Jalan Rompin in Bahau last month.
M. Arunkumar nodded to indicate he understood the charge when it was read before Magistrate Norshazwani Ishak. No plea was recorded, as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court. The accused was unrepresented.
Arunkumar, an e-hailing driver, is accused of killing the boy between 9.02 am and 12.55 pm on July 23. He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty or up to 40 years in prison along with 12 strokes of the cane, upon conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Rasyidah Murni Adzmi requested time to obtain post-mortem, chemical, forensic, and DNA reports. The court scheduled the case mention for September 10 at the Seremban High Court.
Earlier media reports revealed that Arunkumar had filed a police report on July 24, claiming his son had gone missing in Taman Bukit Indah, Iskandar Puteri, Johor. He alleged the child disappeared around 4 pm on July 23 after being left alone in a car while he went to buy food.
The boy’s remains were later discovered buried in Rompin, Jempol, at 4.30 pm on July 28. — Bernama
