KUALA LUMPUR, June 22 (Bernama) — The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) will be conducting low-altitude tactical flight exercises involving fighter jets, transport aircraft, and helicopters over selected areas, particularly the Subang airspace, starting today and continuing until next Thursday.

In a statement today, the RMAF said the exercises are being held in preparation for the Retirement Parade of its 20th Chief, General Tan Sri Mohd Asghar Khan Goriman Khan, which will take place at the Subang Air Base on June 26.

"The RMAF advises the public not to be alarmed by the presence of low-flying aircraft during this period," the statement said.

General Mohd Asghar Khan began his service with the RMAF on July 18, 1983, as a Cadet Officer at the Royal Military College (RMC), and has served for more than 42 years.

He started his career as a fighter pilot in 1985, operating aircraft such as the A4 Skyhawk, F-5E, MiG-29N, and Sukhoi 30MKM.

He has led the RMAF since March 7, 2022, following the retirement of his predecessor, General Tan Sri Ackbal Abdul Samad. — Bernama
