PARIS, June 22 — Gunmen opened fire at a wedding celebration in southeastern France early this morning, killing two people — including the bride — and injuring three others, according to a source close to the investigation.

The shooting took place around 4:30am (0230 GMT) in the village of Goult.

Initial reports indicate that the bride and groom were leaving the event when masked attackers confronted them and began shooting, the source said.

The bride was fatally shot, while one of the assailants was killed after being run over by the couple’s car as they attempted to flee the scene.

Authorities have launched a major manhunt involving approximately 100 police officers to track down the remaining suspects.

Investigators are exploring all possible motives, including the possibility of a targeted attack or personal vendetta. — AFP
