WASHINGTON, April 27 — A man accused of targeting US administration officials at a Washington event has been arrested after allegedly opening fire, injuring a Secret Service agent.
KUALA LUMPUR, April 25 — Police conducted a raid on a frozen food distribution outlet in Skudai, Johor, over allegations of storing pork carcasses without proper slaughter approval.
Internal Security and Public Order Department’s Wildlife Crime Bureau/Special Intelligence Investigation (WCB/PSK) commander Datuk Mohd Zaki Ashar said the 10.30am operation uncovered frozen pork carcasses with questionable slaughter documentation.
He said the meat is believed to have been sourced from facilities not approved or licensed by the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS), an offence under Rule 5(3) of the Animals (Control of Slaughter) Rules 2009.
“A total of 22 pork carcasses weighing 1,058kg, valued at RM63,486, were seized during the raid,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Mohd Zaki added that seven individuals were arrested, including six Nepalese men and a local woman who owns the premises.
“The Nepalese nationals were detained for breaching the conditions of their passes under Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963, while the owner is being investigated for employing foreign workers. Further action will be taken,” he said.
All suspects have been handed over to the Johor Bahru Utara District Police Headquarters for further investigation. The case is being probed under Section 6(1)(c) and Section 39B of the Immigration Act 1959/63, while the DVS will address violations related to slaughter regulations. — Bernama
