JERUSALEM, April 8 — Israel said it backs US President Donald Trump’s move to pause strikes on Iran for two weeks as part of a potential ceasefire, on the condition that Tehran reopens the crucial Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement, the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel supports the decision, provided Iran immediately restores access to the strait and halts all attacks on the US, Israel and other countries in the region.

It also expressed support for US efforts to ensure Iran no longer poses a nuclear, missile or security threat to the US, Israel, neighbouring Arab states and the wider international community. — AFP
