WASHINGTON, June 12 — The White House stated on Tuesday that President Donald Trump will not tolerate “mob rule,” as demonstrations against his immigration policies continue to spread across the U.S., despite a military-backed crackdown in Los Angeles.
JERUSALEM, June 9 — The Israeli military announced yesterday that it had recovered and identified the body of Mohammed Sinwar, a key Hamas figure in Gaza, nearly three weeks after he was reportedly killed in an airstrike.
In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Sinwar’s body was found in an underground tunnel beneath the emergency room of the European Hospital in Khan Yunis, following a targeted operation and subsequent identification process.
According to the IDF, Sinwar was killed on May 13 along with several other Hamas members. During the tunnel search, items belonging to Sinwar and additional intelligence materials were discovered and handed over for further analysis.
Brigadier General Effie Defrin, speaking to reporters at the site, said Sinwar’s body was located “underneath the hospital, directly below the emergency room in a compound with several rooms.” He confirmed the identity using DNA and other verification methods.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had earlier confirmed Sinwar’s death in a May 28 speech to parliament, stating that Sinwar — the brother of slain Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar — had been eliminated during the ongoing Gaza conflict.
Yahya Sinwar, whom Israel accused of orchestrating the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack that sparked the war, was killed in October 2024. Experts believe Mohammed Sinwar succeeded Mohammed Deif as commander of Hamas’s armed wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades.
Mohammed Sinwar was also believed to be involved in decision-making around hostage negotiations and the management of Hamas’s military operations after the deaths of other senior figures.
