WASHINGTON, Aug 25 — SpaceX has called off a scheduled test flight for its Starship megarocket on Sunday, citing the need for additional time to address issues, marking yet another setback for Elon Musk’s colossal project following a string of explosive failures.
PUTRAJAYA, Aug 31 — General Datuk Seri Muhamad Norazlan Aris made history today as the first Air Force Commander to personally lead an aerial display in conjunction with Malaysia’s 68th National Day celebration at Dataran Putrajaya.
Appointed the 21st Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Chief Marshal in June, Muhamad Norazlan showcased his skills by piloting the Su-30MKM twin-engine, super-manoeuvrable fighter jet at the head of a formation featuring 30 national air assets. The line-up included fighter jets, transport planes, and helicopters from the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM), and the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM).

The thunderous roar of the engines echoed across Putrajaya’s skies, drawing loud applause and cheers from tens of thousands of spectators, many of whom captured the spectacular display on their devices. The showcase was hailed as a proud reflection of the bravery and professionalism of Malaysia’s air warriors.
With extensive flight experience on aircraft such as the Aermacchi MB339A, A-4PTM Skyhawk, and MiG-29N/UB, Muhamad Norazlan noted that while he had led many formation and cross-country missions since his early days as a pilot, this year’s National Day display carried special meaning.
“This performance is not just a routine display — it delivers an important message, especially for the RMAF,” he said.
“I hope it serves as an inspiration, showing that a leader’s role goes beyond giving orders — it is about setting an example and being a role model. It also reassures the public that our personnel are fully capable of carrying out their duties.”
He added that being at the forefront with his men helped strengthen trust and unity between commanders and subordinates.
“My participation shows I am not just observing from the stage, but standing alongside them, giving my energy and commitment to the nation,” he said.
Muhamad Norazlan also expressed pride in having His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia’s blessing for his involvement in the display.
Born in Kota Tinggi, Johor, he conveyed deep appreciation for the dedication of every team member — from pilots to ground crew — whose efforts ensured the success of the historic performance. — Bernama
