JAKARTA, April 10 — Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund Danantara Indonesia has set up a new state-owned entity to speed up investment in waste-to-energy projects, amid rising demand for more sustainable waste management solutions.
KOTA BHARU, April 9 — A man with multiple criminal records was injured after police shot him when he allegedly attacked officers with a machete near Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Machang last night.
Kelantan police chief Mohd Yusoff Mamat said officers responded to a report at 11.17pm and encountered two suspicious individuals. During checks, one of them became aggressive and swung a machete at the policemen.
Officers fired several shots in self-defence, hitting the suspect in the thigh. He fled but was later arrested nearby. He is now in stable condition in hospital and has been remanded for seven days.
No officers were injured, while the second suspect remains at large. Police also recovered a machete believed to have been used in the incident.
The suspect has prior offences involving drugs, criminal intimidation, dangerous weapons and domestic violence. The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder. — Bernama
