KUALA LUMPUR, July 22 — A motorcyclist sustained a neck injury after becoming entangled in a kite string while riding along Jalan Lingkaran Tengah 2 (MRR2) towards Sri Damansara, near the Kepong Metropolitan Lake Garden, yesterday.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the incident occurred around 6pm when the 27-year-old victim was riding in the middle lane and his body caught a kite string, which sliced his neck before snapping.

“The victim pulled over and sought medical attention at a polyclinic in Selayang for rope friction burns to his neck,” he said in a statement today.

The case is being investigated under Section 80 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for placing an object across the road that poses a danger or obstruction to traffic.

A 41-second video, recorded by the victim, has since gone viral on social media. It shows the injury to his neck and includes an appeal for authorities to take action against individuals flying kites near roadways. — Bernama
