KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 26 — Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail announced today that the police are collaborating with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to identify the person responsible for the foreign number that was utilized to send a threatening message to Pandan MP Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli.

He stated that the police are optimistic about identifying the individual in the near future.

"We sought help from our partner agencies (MCMC), and I am confident that we will be able to find the individual as swiftly as possible," he informed reporters following the inauguration of the Police Special Dialogue Series III here.

On the previous Friday, Khalid stated that law enforcement had documented testimonies from 19 persons as part of the inquiry into the matter.

On August 12, an assault on Rafizi's son occurred at a shopping center in Putrajaya. The Pandan MP claimed that two men on a motorcycle followed his wife's vehicle before seizing his son and injecting the boy with a syringe.

The previous economy minister asserted that the assault was an effort to prevent him from investigating a possible scandal, noting that his wife has similarly received threats via her phone following the event.

The police in Selangor had previously stated that security protocols for Rafizi and his family had been enhanced, noting that they had acquired promising leads following the examination of closed-circuit television recordings from the vicinity.
